Since the beginning of February, we featured “28 days of Black History” lead by Program Director Carla and the Legislative Committee. From February 21st through February 24th, we hosted our Second Annual Virtual Black History Conference – For The Children, featuring our very own Historian Thereze! On Friday night, we were blessed to partner with We Are Just Write for a fantastic Parents Only Event! Our Black History Month Celebration ended with an in-person tour of historical monuments of Black leaders throughout NYC!
Our children, teens, Moms and Dads alike enjoyed the stories and the structures of these prominent history makers – Ronald McNair, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglas, Arthur Ashe, Jackie Robinson, Ralph Ellison, The Three Women Pioneers and Duke Ellington. Thank you to our Program Director Carla, Historian Thereze, City Link and Bus Driver Eddie for your outstanding service to our children and families!!! Teamwork makes the dream work!
As we continue to stand on the shoulders of Martin, Madame CJ, Malcolm, Maya, Marcus, Mahalia and many others who overcame challenges to lead in excellence, we are empowered to use our power to make a difference – on mission and on purpose for all children. Stay safe, healthy, positive and warm!
